Surprise 60th!!

My dad's birthday was August 22. We got my Uncle to come from Florida to surprise him. My sister and I picked Uncle Al and Anna up at the airport, then he took over driving and we went to Cedar Point. I called my dad and asked him to meet us at the bathroom turnaround. When he came to get us, he saw it was not me who was driving and after staring for a second, he realized it was his brother!!! We had a great weekend! Unfortunately, Josh was not there- he was at the Dominican Republic, but also had a great time.

He is a MITCHELL!!!!!

We went out on the boat last night with the Welsh Family. After our friend Chris skied, Lucas said that he wanted to try. We didn't give him any more time to think about it. Josh grabbed the skis and Lucas, and I drove the boat, and he did it!!! Josh held him the whole time, but he got to hold the handle and he had a great time!! I think he wanted to show off for Riley:) Thanks to Abbey we got some great pictures of the night! Nathan stayed home with Grandma Ne and Papa Rik. He is not quite a fan of the boat yet. He is still trying to get his balance on solid ground.

Actual Birthday

We stayed with tradition and took Nathan to the zoo for his birthday. I don't think he is going to be my animal lover. He found everything as interesting as Denver, his dog. It was a beautiful day though. He also had his first ice cream cone. He freaked out with his first bite, then he couldn't have enough. Lucas got a kiddie cone too, but Titi offered a bite of her chocolate cone, next thing you know he said "here you go Titi" and gave her the kiddie cone and took the chocolate one. Smart boy.

Party Day!!!!

Nathan's first birthday party was a success!!! We had close to 20 kids plus parents:) The weather was beautiful and the swing set was done. Nathan did not like to eat the cake(Lucas and Kenna did) but he loved smashing it. We did a Big Bird theme, since Nathan's hair always makes him look like a bird. Rene made yummy, very cute, cookies- of course, my mom was worn out from cooking and helping me watch the boys all day, and Keri made 60 cupcakes- some of which were in the shape of corn on the cob. We had a great time with family and friends that we had not seen in awhile. Happy Birthday baby boy. Can't believe he is one.

New Swing Set

Well, the goal was to have a swing set for Nathan's birthday party. The set came Friday afternoon- and believe it or not- was done by 11pm. What great family and friends we have. Saturday morning was better than Christmas, Lucas was soooooo excited:)

My triathlete!!!!!!

Josh ran his first triathlon in Cleveland yesterday!! Bright and early in the morning, well not bright since the sun was not up, but early in the morning, Jenny, Matt and myself went to watch Josh swim, bike and run. He did a great job swimming, biked like a pro, and ran like a marathoner. He rocked. I'm proud. He's mine.

So the other day Jenny and I were scrapbooking and Lucas looks outside and screams "a lake!" We looked outside and he was not kidding. The storm sewer a few houses down overflowed and a few houses grew a lake. Believe it or not, our sump pumps did not even go off and it went away in two hours! Denver was in heaven with her boyfriend Murphy.
